Just had my attention drawn to this. I didn't know Ern Sharp but others would have.

Hi Dan,

I remember Ernie, I think he spent decades (?) at Kwikila and as a long term coastal kiap with all the accoutrements in terms of extensive papuan experience, language, a boat (?) fishing gear, etc. was most upset when at a late stage in life he was posted to Chuave where I was a young patrol officer. A great senior ADC/DO, Ernie proceeded to surprise us when he went fishing in the local waters and caught jungle perch, something we never ever considered could be done at Chuave. I may have got some aspects of this story wrong but this is as I remember it.

Had anybody got an email address or other contact details for Ernie so I can send an re-union circular down to him.

Peter.

He certainly beats me. I obtained my Ph.D. at the age of 74, after 14 years of study. And I thought I had done well.

Ernie was ADC Kwikila when my course arrived there for post ASOPA training in 1967.

He had a fair bit to do with the training so a lot of people should remember him.

Taught everyone how to keep a pipe secure in the top of one's sock.

Haven't seen Ernie (Chuave) since 1970. Peter get on to him and get him to the Qld re-union. He is a good bloke.

People, Ernie was ADC Rigo & then Kwikila (well was ADO then) & really good friends with the Rosser mob. Wife Mavis & daughter Tracy. He was on the NSW Central Coast, but I don't know his whereabouts now. Wouldn't be too hard to track him down. Last time I recall seeing him was at my father's funeral in 1987. And no, he was crap at Motu. So if you lot want to make the invite, drop me a line. Cheers, JNR
